PARK HILL ESTATE, PHASE 4
(2018 - 2019)
Soft & hard landscape design
Client: S1 Artspace/Urban Splash
With: Carmody Groarke architects
Landscape masterplan incorporating the new art gallery designed by Carmody Groarke, within a parkland landscape that ‘brings the Park back to Park Hill’.
Following a successful invited tender bid, JCLA were appointed to develop Stage 2 propsals for this prestigious site in Sheffield. Taking a cue from the surrounding South Yorkshire landscape, the design brings the idea of the ‘borrowed landscape’ into the heart of the site; maximising long views and inviting local flora and fauna into the new development.
The landscape creates a collection of spaces responding to different uses; from tighter and more distinct to looser and more expansive spaces. A sense of lively engagement with the park setting, art context and inherited features of Park Hill is established and supported by the proposed materials, planting story and mixing of uses.
