A
nature reserve on a promontory of land between two tidal creeks at
the mouth of the River Wandle.
To create an intertidal habitat, the sheet-piled river walls were cut down and a wetland terrace formed stepping up to a crossing boardwalk leading out to an ‘island’ at high water. The island houses original mature willows and a public sculpture by artist Sophie Horton, with views out to the Thames.
